Information About Patrick Kurtz

Patrick Kurtz is a private investigator, criminologist, author, editor, and researcher. He lives with his wife, Dr Maya Grünschloß, and their two children, Ian and Enlil, alternating between Germany, Barcelona (Spain), and the Isle of Skye (Scotland).

 

Born a “Römer” and grandson of the Central German local historian Hilmar Römer, Patrick Kurtz studied Provincial Roman Archaeology, Psychology, Comparative Literature, and German Studies at the Universities of Oxford, Leipzig, Marburg, and Hagen. In addition to editing Aidan Johnstone’s memoir Livingstones Mahnung, he published the scholarly work Von Ovid, Grass und Tintagel Castle – Wissenschaftliche und Essayistische Ausflüge in die Europäische Literatur in 2012.

 

Patrick Kurtz has also conducted studies on topics including prehistory, religion and mythology, the origin and development of the universe and life (with a focus on biochemistry, particularly DNA), consciousness, philosophy, police violence, climate change, and democracy, demagogy, and disinformation in the 21st century. He approaches these subjects with an interest in both academic and alternative perspectives, consistently looking beyond Western viewpoints. His personal interests include music (he is a multi-instrumentalist), Rishi Yoga, scuba diving (PADI-certified), and various athletic pursuits.

 

Driven by his natural inclination for combination, deduction, and analysis, Patrick Kurtz completed a private investigator training course in 2012/13 and has since worked professionally as an IHK-certified detective. His investigative focus is criminology, applying insights from human ethology.

 

Other qualifications in investigation and security include the IHK proficiency exam under § 34a GewO, commercial weapons proficiency under § 7 WaffG, certification in life-saving emergency measures and defibrillator operation, VDS intervention officer, and even elevator operator certification under TRBS 3121.

 

Languages: German, English, and Spanish (fluent); basic to intermediate skills in Italian, French, Catalan, and Greek; Latin proficiency and familiarity with the Hebrew alphabet.
